Jerry Herman's Dear World was adapted from French playwright Jean Girandoux's "The Madwoman of Chaillot". The forces of poetry, love, and idealism overcome those of materialism, cold science, and business. When the President of a corporation (played by Chris Holownia), his lawyer (Matt Heath), and an oil prospector (Trevor Frankel) plan to drill for oil in the beautiful old neighborhood of Chaillot, a loveable eccentric named Countess Aurelia (Elizabeth Charpie) must fight to save Paris. Helping her are Gabrielle (Emma Sweet) and Constance (Joanna Troy), two of the Countess's similarly eccentric friends; Julian, a nice young man (Alex Lawrence); Nina, a waitress (Christine Barclay); and a malodorous Sewerman (Jed Alevizos). When Countess Aurelia conspires to dispose of the troublesome capitalists, Idealism triumphs over Evil and Greed.
